CARES Mission Statement

The Community Alliance for Responsible Environmental Stewardship's (CARES) mission is to ensure the long-term economic and environmental viability of the California dairy industry by:

Advocating dairy policy that is both environmentally sound and economically feasible;
Developing a sound scientific, technical and economic information base to support dairy industry positions;
Encouraging self-directed compliance with all local, state and federal environmental laws and regulations;
Increasing public awareness of the dairy industry's commitment to environmental stewardship.

CARES is implementing a comprehensive strategy to meet these challenges, with activities ranging from media relations and participation in public hearings to coordinating scientific and technical experts to address key issues, coalition building and promoting increased participation in the California Dairy Quality Assurance Program.
